Students, staff and community members take part in Service Learning initiatives across the school year.

This may see them making meals for Perth’s homeless, participating in food collection drives or spending time with elderly residents at aged care homes. Ìý

Our School was also chosen by WA Charity Direct (WACD) as the pilot school to launch the ‘next generation of philanthropists’, through inspiration, guidance and support of WACD and our Service Learning Team. This program sees select student volunteers identify and research opportunities to support those less fortunate, donating funds via WACD to those who need it most in the local community. Ìý

On a larger scale, students and staff can participate in regional and international tours to various locations, learning about different ways of life and enriching the lives of those they meet. Experiencing different cultures, environments and people around the world, helps to mould our students into more compassionate people with life experience before they have even graduated.Ìý

Our international and regional Service Learning opportunities ensure our graduates have high levels of intercultural awareness, display a relationship-centred approach to global issues, are creative and innovative in their approach to challenges and opportunities, and have a heart for service in their local community and around the world.Ìý

Each student is encouraged to embrace service of others to connect with communities and offer their skills and ideas to help where needed.ÌýÌý

Tours

St Stephen’s School’s tour program immerses students in service opportunities that build character, empathy and engagement.Ìý

Developing students with high levels of intercultural competencies and a heart for service and contributing to the welfare of local people in practical ways are just some of the many benefits of our tour program in Asia, Africa and Australia.ÌýÌý

Our students participate in significant fundraising and cultural awareness training prior to the tours and live and work with local people while visiting. When they return to School, they share their experiences with their peers and the wider School community.Ìý
