Our specialist Music and Visual Art teachers enhance the learning experiences of our students by engaging them in a range of hands-on activities to inspire their imagination and creativity.

Making music plays a big role in our Music education program, with Primary students introduced to a variety of instruments and singing experiences to pique their interests and develop their talents.

We also offer students opportunities to take their music education further in dedicated instrumental programs.

Year 3s can be part of the Strings Program, with many instruments on offer to learn including the violin, viola and cello or double bass. Year 5s can also choose to learn a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. This introduction to these instruments can then lead to individual tuition opportunities later in the year in the Instrumental Tuition Program. Students who take part in this program become members of School Ensembles when they reach an appropriate skill level.Ìý

Performing is a key element of learning in our Music program and students are encouraged to take to the stage in a host of different performance opportunities across the school year, including choral and music concerts, and competitions.ÌýÌý

If your child is a keen artist, they will thrive in our specialist Visual Art classrooms equipped with a diverse range of art materials and equipment to enhance creativity. Students are encouraged by our Visual Art specialist teachers to imagine, design and create works that express their unique artistic talents and skills.Ìý

Our Primary students also showcase their artworks at exhibitions and in competitions throughout the year, including annual whole-School Art and Design Exhibitions. These opportunities to share their work with public audiences encourage our budding artists to strive to create works that showcase their learning and talents beyond the classroom.Ìý

St Stephen’s School’s Performing Arts Primary program offers unique stage experiences to our students. With full-scale Primary musical productions held every second year, students gain experience in leading roles, as ensemble members and backstage crew. They learn about the elements of producing a professional production, rehearse with classmates and across year groups, culminating in a spectacular performance week in the Duncraig Theatre.Ìý
